Dr Chua’s Approach to
Fertility Care
Fertility care can feel overwhelming, especially when patients are unsure what
may be affecting conception or whether treatment is needed.
Dr Chua believes the starting point should be proper assessment, not assumptions.
His approach is grounded in three simple principles.
01 – Understand
Review the fertility picture carefully, including relevant male and female factors.
02 – Review
Explain findings clearly, discuss what they mean, and assess which options are appropriate.
03 – Decide
Recommend the next step thoughtfully, based on clinical findings and the patient’s goals.
This structured approach helps patients make informed decisions without feeling rushed into treatment.

Subspecialty Expertise
In Male Infertility
Male fertility is an important part of the overall fertility picture, but it is sometimes assessed too late or overlooked entirely.
Dr Chua’s subspecialty expertise and experience in male infertility strengthen the way he evaluates couples, helping to ensure that both male and female factors are considered early in the decision-making process.
During his time at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, he established the micro-TESE service for men with azoospermia.
This additional expertise supports a more complete
fertility assessment for couples.
Minimally Invasive
Gynaecological Surgery
to Enhance Fertility
Minimally invasive surgery, also known as laparoscopy, is a surgical technique performed through small incisions in the abdomen. Compared with traditional open surgery, it typically results in smaller scars, less post-operative pain and a faster recovery. It can be particularly useful for fertility patients as it may help minimise scarring around the reproductive organs.
Dr Chua is a fully accredited minimally invasive surgeon with expertise in laparoscopic gynaecological and reproductive surgery.
Laparoscopic Surgery
for Fertility
Conditions such as ovarian cysts, endometriosis, fibroids, blocked fallopian tubes and endometrial polyps can affect fertility and reduce the chances of pregnancy.
Where surgery is appropriate, meticulous surgical technique and careful restoration of the pelvic anatomy can help optimise reproductive outcomes.
Laparoscopic Surgery for Common Gynaecological Conditions
Beyond fertility care, conditions such as fibroids and ovarian cysts can cause symptoms including abdominal enlargement, heavy menstrual bleeding and painful periods.
Laparoscopy offers a minimally invasive approach to treating many of these conditions, with potential benefits including smaller incisions, less post-operative pain and a quicker return to normal activities.
